Apartments
How large are the apartments?
Résidence Château Ferrassières (RCF) has 5 T2 apartments, 11 T2+ apartments, and 2 studios.
What are the differences in dimensions between the various types of apartments?
The T2 apartments are approximately 35 m2, and the T2 ‘plus’ is at least 42 m2. The Studio T1 does not have its own outdoor area. Most other apartments have their own outdoor space in the form of a terrace or balcony.
What does a Studio T1 look like?
A studio is about 22 m2. The studio does not have a separate bedroom but features a high-quality sofa bed. The sofa bed is 160 cm wide and 200 cm long. The studio has a small kitchen equipped with all necessities such as a dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker (filter coffee type), sufficient crockery, utensils, a 2-burner induction hob, and necessary pans.
What do I need to bring?
Upon arrival, the beds are already made, and there are (bath) towels and slippers. In the kitchen, you will find a starter kit with dishwasher tablets, dish brush, dishcloth, etc. The bathroom contains a set of soap, shampoo, and body lotion.
Are the apartments adapted for disabled individuals?
Résidence Château Ferrassières is suitable for people with disabilities; we also have an elevator for easy access to all floors. However, the bathrooms and kitchens are not specifically adapted. Some apartments have steps. If in doubt, we recommend contacting us. We can send you photos if needed.
Is there air conditioning in the residence?
Our residence does not have air conditioning, but because we are located at an altitude of 920m, the nights are pleasantly cool.
Do you provide baby cribs?
We have everything for a baby, including a high chair, crib, and potty. Just let us know if you want to use these facilities.
Are pets welcome?
Pets are certainly welcome. We provide a cushion for dogs as well as a water/food bowl. Poop bags are also provided. During the warmer months, we also set up a small dog pool on our premises. If you need to go out without your dog for a few hours, we have a solution. There is also a dog living at the Chateau. Harry is a calm and sweet X-Labrador from a French shelter.
Facilities
Is there Internet / Wifi?
Yes, there is free Wifi throughout the building. New! Since April 2024, we have switched to a connection via a Starlink satellite.
Is there a common area?
Yes, there is a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with appliances such as a BBQ, airfryer, and dishwasher. The outdoor kitchen can accommodate up to 25-30 people. Please let us know if you would like to book or use the outdoor kitchen. A small fee is requested for cleaning afterward.
Does RCF have an outdoor swimming pool?
No, RCF does not have an outdoor pool, but we do have a delightful heated (28ºC) indoor pool measuring 8×4 meters and 150 cm deep. Our indoor pool is open year-round from 09:00 AM to 09:00 PM. The ceiling is enchantingly lit in the evening, and from the pool, you can watch the sunset.
Is there a Jacuzzi?
Certainly, to relax, we have a 6-person jacuzzi on the sun terrace. The Jacuzzi is set to a pleasant 36 degrees Celsius. From mid-October to mid-April, the jacuzzi is in winter mode, but with sufficient interest, we can quickly warm it up again.
Is there a sauna?
We also have saunas (2 of them). They are electric saunas, so no water pouring is required. Each sauna is suitable for 2 persons.
Can I iron my clothes?
In our laundry room, there is an ironing board and a steam iron that you can use upon request.
Is there a washing machine and dryer available?
In our laundry room, there is a washing machine and dryer that you can use upon request. There is no additional cost for this service.
Does RCF have a tennis court? Yes, indeed, RCF has a beautiful hardcourt tennis court that many tennis clubs would envy.
Do you provide tennis rackets?
Certainly, you can borrow tennis rackets and balls from us. There is no additional cost. We also have badminton rackets and shuttles. Please note that the rackets are not of Djokovic quality.
Is there a library?
RCF has a bookshelf containing books, magazines, and board games.
Can I rent (electric) bikes?
We do not rent bikes ourselves. There is an excellent bike rental service in Sault and Montbrun Les Bains, offering new high-quality equipment, both electric and traditional bikes.
Can I store my bike indoors?
Next to the building, there is a small shed where you can keep your bike dry overnight.
Is there a garage nearby?
The nearest garage is in Montbruns Les Bains. We’d be happy to provide you with directions. For brand dealers, you might need to go to Avignon or Nyons.
Kitchen
What kind of coffee maker is in the apartment?
All apartments are equipped with two coffee makers: a Nescafé Dolce Gusto machine and a coffee maker with paper filters (no. 4). There are always sufficient filters available upon arrival. Of course, there is also an electric kettle. If you happen to forget the coffee, we will find a solution for you.
Are there (baking/frying) pans in the apartment?
Certainly, there is a complete set for cooking, including a frying pan and a saucepan.
Is there enough tableware?
There is definitely enough tableware. Except for Studio T1, all apartments have tableware, cutlery, and oven dishes for at least 6 people. In Studio T1, everything is provided for 4 people.
Are there plates and utensils for toddlers?
Yes, you can borrow those from us. There is no charge for this service.
Do I need to do the dishes? All apartments are equipped with a Siemens dishwasher. In the starter kit on the kitchen counter, you will also find a few dishwasher tablets and other cleaning items.
Eating, drinking, and grocery shopping
Does the chateau have its own restaurant or bar?
We do not have our own restaurant or bar. Of course, you can enjoy your own snacks and drinks at the picnic tables or in our outdoor kitchen.
Are there restaurants nearby?
Certainly, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Click on the link and then select “Restaurants” for an overview and description of various nice restaurants.
Is there a supermarket nearby?
There are no shops in Ferrassières itself. In Montbrun les Bains (7.1 km), there is a small but well-stocked supermarket, SuperU, with an excellent butcher’s shop. They also sell baguettes. SuperU is open from 08:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In Sault (10 km), there is a larger InterMarché with a gas station, butcher, and bakery/patisserie corner. InterMarché is open from 08:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
Both supermarkets are closed on Sundays.
Is there a bakery nearby?
There is no bakery in Ferrassières itself. However, there are bakeries in Montbrun (7 km) or Sault (10 km). A bakery is open every day, usually from 07:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Health
Is there a general practitioner nearby?
Both in Montbrun Les Bains and in Sault, there is a general practitioner. Both places also have a pharmacy. We have the address and phone number if needed.
Is there a hospital nearby?
Let’s hope that won’t be necessary. There is a small hospital with an Emergency Room open 24/7 in Vaison La Romaine.
Is there a dentist nearby?
In Avignon, there is a large dental clinic; we would be happy to provide you with the contact details.
Are there other (para)medical specialists nearby?
There are several (para)medical specialists in the region, such as physiotherapists, and laboratories for blood tests, etc. If needed, we can gladly provide you with the contact details.
